The 2006 Ace Cafe Reunion Run / Brighton Burn-Up was another huge success for this annual event with thousands of bikes, trikes, sidecars, and one or two machines that were motorbike-lorries or some such.

Although there are trade stalls and one or two staged events over the day, the Brighton Burn Up is primarily a massive gathering of bikers. Its raison d'etre is just to be there. It is spectacular for the number of bikes that swarm into Madeira Drive, and fill the length of the Drive from end to end.

Once there you can enjoy the sea, the sun (the 2006 event had a beautiful September day), the milling crowds, the thousands of bikes, from all makers and all ages.

The trikes are a big attraction: the ingenuity, the fun, their outlandishness, and the sheer lunacy of some are great to behold.

From the point of view of photography it's a great event (though the sun was a bit too strong). All you could hope for in subject matter is there: lots of character in men, women, and machines.
