The Seafront Is Quite Busy On Christmas Day

Ouch! The Shingle

The swimmers all go in together, but come out in their own time. A few swim well out to sea but most keep close to the shoreline. For the two swimmers in the photograph on the left, the big challenge of the event was not the bitterly cold water, but the shingle under their bare feet. Ouch! Ouch!

Meanwhile, a little further west at The Meeting Place Cafe, the British were showing their remarkable capacity to queue, even on Christmas Day.

In fact, you never see a queue that long at the Cafe on any other day of the year.
