After torrential rain and flooding in the north of the country during the preceding week, the London to Brighton Cycle Run on Sunday, 17th June 2007 was very fortunate to have a sunny and breezy day. The wind was even from the west, giving the riders a helping hand along to the finish line in Madeira Drive: few seemed to need it. In fact, some, after completing the 56 miles, pick up their medal, a cup of chilled water, and set off on a cycle around the city. Most relax, many taking to the beach. Others ease their aching muscles by having a massage in one of a number of massage tents.
Thousands turn out to cheer the riders as they cross the finish line.
I met one father and son who between them have completed the run more than 20 times!
