The Early Pavilion
The Prince Regent (later George IV) 'discovered' Brighton in 1783 and fell in love with the place. Within a few years he decided to build a permanent residence for himself. The Royal Pavilion palace that we have today was a later development on the site that he first occupied in 1787.
